Wound with his wisdom to his wished stay; / That wandered wondrous far, when he the town / Of sacred Troy had sackd and shivered down.
-- Homer
Two great heros, Two great stories, one amazing writer. Homer is the man behind the words when he wrote his two famous epics, The Odyssey and The Iliad. I ask myself now, Was he really blind ? Stories tell us that all his life Homer was blind, but most do not know about his life. What we do know is that Homer is one of the most famous and inspiring Greek poets of all time. He is believed to have been in existence about 2700 years ago. Homer is a very mysterious man at that, not many people new about him. All scholars' have are theories. Most say that Homer lived around the end of the Trojan War. Most evidence has shown that Homer's works were written in the 12th century B.C.E. Homer started out as a storyteller or a singer, going around Greece singing his heart out about stories and fantasies.
Well .. What makes Homer so great, and why are his books still around. Even though we know very little about Homer and his life, what we do know is that Homer was an amazing writer. He had to be to make up two of the greatest epics of all time, and two of the greatest hero's at that.
