Information of Odysseus' stops.
1. Troy- Odysseus had to travel to Troy to battle the Trojans. It took him 10 years to defeat them. Finally, in one last effort, Odysseus and his men made a large wooden horse. At night, the men snuck out and killed the Trojans ending the war. It took Odysseus 20 years to return to Ithaca from Troy.
2. Cicones - The Cicones island was robbed by Odysseus' men. They took too much time on the island and had to battle the Cicones' army who were on horseback.
3. Island of the Lotus Eaters - Lotus is a plant that makes all your cares and worries disappear. The men became addicted to the plant and Odysseus had to tie them to the boat to get away.
4. Island of the Cyclopes - In Odysseus' mind the Cyclopes are barbarians. They are One eyed Giants. They run into one called Polyphemus, son of Poseidon. Odysseus and his men are trapped by him, and Odysseus gets out by blinding the cyclopes.
5. Aeolus - Aeolus gives Odysseus a bag of bad winds. It would take him nine days to reach Ithaca, granted the winds stayed in the bag.
6. Laestrygonians - Cannibals who destroy most of Odysseus' men.
7. Aeaea- Home of Circe.
8. Hades- Also known as the Underworld.
9. Sirens- A singing group trying to lure in unsuspecting sailors. The singers try to give you all your fantasies.
10. Scylla and Charybdis- Scylla is a beast. She is capable of eating 6 humans at one time. Charybdis is not much better, she seems very nice, but just when you are getting close she sucks you up in a whirlpool and spits up the ocean fiery hot. It is just like being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
11. Sun God- Thrinacia, is the sun god. He keeps his cattle on the island with him.
12. Calypso- Calypso inhabits the island of Ogygia.
13. Phaecians - Helped Odysseus back to Ithaca.
